On 9th November 2012, the
Faculty of Law in UiTM Shah Alam had made a history where they conducted the
very first musical theater regarding a case in a court. The theater was held at Dataran Agong Tuanku
Canselor (DATC), UiTM Shah Alam. ‘Saksi Terakhir’ was the title for this
musical theater as they are trying to unravel the witness of the case which is
a drug dealer. A very young woman was convicted to be a drug dealer and there
are many contradict sources regarding the issue. However, the woman plaid not
guilty but there are many witness that reported she was. In order to solve the
case, they insert a sense of humor through a short drama and musical dance.
The theater should start at 7.30pm
but extended until 8.30pm and the audience had been in the ballroom hall since 6.30pm.
There are some complaints about the itinerary and the unsystematic instruction
to enter the hall as well as some misunderstanding between the organizer and
the audiences which causes uncontrolled situation where some of the inpatient
audiences push each other which caused a few people fall at the entrance.
We
expect that we can enjoy the theater after we gone through the hectic situation
but the worst part comes first as we have to wait about an hour just for the
VIP to launch the theater. Just a moment the theater start
there’s another problem which is a sound technical problem because the sound
was not clear and although they switch another microphone, the sound was still
cant be heard clearly. It caused a great impact to the audiences as we can’t
get what they’re saying. Overall, the technical problem causes a great
interruption.
Besides that, the storyline was too
long and unorganized. The prop was falling off the wall and that had ruins their
performances but they still manage to cover it as a joke and make it not so
obvious. Since the storyline was too long and difficult to be understand, a lot
of the audiences leave the hall before the theater end because they loose their
interest.
In conclusion, the theater was not so bad, the audiences
still enjoy their performance especially the musical comedy part. However, we think
that they could improve their performance if they are well prepared. Plus, the
price for the ticket that we pay doesn’t worth it so we hope if they make
another theater, they would reduce the price or improve their performance. Last
but not least, we surprised that a guest from Master Chef Malaysia season 1
which are Imelda and Bryan was invited to be part of the show.
